As we enter our third year as a company, we want to start a new segment called “Rosegate’s Monthly MVP.” We want to give you a deep dive into people on our team so you can get to know the people of Rosegate a little better!
In this short (but fun) interview, we’ll be talking to Cameron Odom, Rosegate’s Marketing and Administrative Coordinator for over a year. Cameron was nominated by her fellow teammates because, “She is always so supportive of the entire team, willing to help anyone at any time, and adds to a great energy for the office.”
What does your job entail?
“Ooof. That’s a hard question because I wear many hats here at Rosegate. If you need a marketing flyer, have a question about licensing, can’t figure out the printer, or want to set up a marketing meeting – I’m your gal!”
What is the best career lesson you’ve learned so far?
“No clerk mentality! Instead of doing something because someone asked you, always ask yourself “why are you doing this?” If it doesn’t make sense, speak up! Brad Bradley, a founder at Rosegate, taught me this very early on in my career. It’s something I’ll hold onto forever!”
What’s your favorite part about working at Rosegate?
“Definitely our team. I couldn’t go to work each day if I didn’t like the people I worked with! We all come from different backgrounds, yet somehow, we work so well together. I know if something happens and I need help – there’s always going to be someone ready to lend me a hand.”
What does your typical weekend look like?
“The weekend is my time to go to my favorite coffee shops with my fiancé, Justin, and our pups Otto and Moose (they love pup cups). Then I love to do a little retail therapy at TJ Maxx and Hobby Lobby because who doesn’t love good deals? We almost always hang out with our friends at a brewery or their house, but some weekends we like to stay in and have a movie night filled with sweet treats and popcorn!”
If you could meet anyone, living or dead, who would you meet?
“Oh gosh, this one is hard because there are so many people I want to meet! I think the one person I would love to meet is Dolly Parton. She’s an icon and a legend. Growing up, my Pawpaw used to own a bar and on Friday nights I would put my quarter in the jukebox and play 9 to 5 every chance I could get!”
Ten years ago, who did you think you would be now?
“When I was 13, I probably thought I would be a married homeowner working as a lawyer in some big city. Middle school was my prime “I want to be lawyer” phase because I was on the debate team and loved to go head to head with people in my class.”
What would you do (for a career) if you weren’t doing this?
“When I was a kid, I used to think I would grow up to be a news anchor (or talk show host). Sometimes I wonder if I still want to do that, and then I remember waking up at 1:00 in the morning and I come back to reality, LOL.”
What advice do you have for prospective Rosegate candidates?
“Just be yourself! Being your authentic self will get you far in life, and that’s something I will always live by.”
