A common idiom that many live by is to never judge a book by its cover. Unfortunately, not many people practice this rule when buying a home. Potential buyers often base their opinion of a home on the exterior alone. Regardless of whether your home has marble countertops, hardwood floors, or even a master bathroom the size of a bedroom, these factors will not matter unless you add enough curb appeal to bring them through the front door. Below are three easy (and typically budget-friendly) methods to increase the curb appeal of your home.

Paint the Front Door

Painting your front door can be a cheap and easy way to catch the eye of a potential buyer. If you watch HGTV as much as I do (which is a lot), then you know people love a front door that adds a pop of color to the exterior. According to HGTV, some of the most appealing colors for your front door are teal, slate blue, and coral. Spend one morning painting your front door and see for yourself how simple and eye-catching this is to home buyers.

Get Rid of Eyesores

If we are honest with ourselves, we all have a project we never finished outside our home. Maybe you watched a home improvement show and felt inspired to paint your front porch, but you never actually finished the job. Potential homebuyers will see your projects as their hassle. Nevertheless, eyesores are not merely incomplete projects! They can also be overgrown bushes or weeds protruding through the sidewalk cracks. With a little TLC, your home will be the best on the block.

Add Decor

An instant way to add curb appeal to your home is to make it look livable. You want potential buyers to imagine how they will decorate the exterior of your home. Giving them a glimpse yourself could intrigue them enough to put in an offer! You can decorate your home on a budget by visiting thrift stores, going to local greenhouses to find deals on plants, or using decor you have accumulated over the years. Adding character to the exterior of your home will likely guarantee people’s interest!
